"A Touch of Humility"
On last Sunday, August 17, 2014 on my way home after church as approaching a stopped light I looked to my left and saw a man holding a sign indicating that he needed help. I saw something that was extremely peculiar about this estranged person. He was carrying an Oxygen tank with the tube in a hundred degree weather, possibly. Regardless, whether there was truth in what he was doing, I feel like that is between he and God. The Lord knows if he was lying or not. My job was to witness and pray for him in spite of his action. What’s so ironic about these situations, there is no set amount of money these individuals ask for and if you should run upon someone that does, it’s never that much, which is only a few pennies. I have never had anyone to ever ask me for a dollar, it has always been less. I often try to keep loose change in my car for this purpose, only. My heart dropped as I watched this man drag that tank in the hot weather. I thought to myself, why would anyone go through the initiative of doing what he is doing if there wasn’t a problem? I then called him over to my car just before the light changed green and gave him a five dollar bill. I didn’t have time to get out of my car to pray with him one on one but I did tell him that I am believing God to heal and deliver him and he would definitely be in my prayers. He then turned to an invisible or an imaginary friend and said, “Look bear an angel has come to our recue and he then gave me his blessing.” This man has been in my prayers all week. I often say, “No one household is exempt from the wiles of the enemy.” I told you this story because the need is so great in this “Deeply Distressed and Troubled World”, which is the Theme, that our Presiding Bishop, Charles E. Blake has challenged us with this year. Remember, God is calling us to witness as never before. We are to pray for the minds of the people, as well as our own. The Bible says in, I Corinthians 3:6 “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” Matthew 9:37-38 “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” Proverbs 11:30 "He that winneth souls is wise." What would you have done in a situation like this? Need feedback, please.
Humility means - the quality or state of not thinking you are better than other people: the quality or state of being humble.
